Hoops in the Square

On Saturday, September 20, 2008 the Frisco Sunrise Rotary Club held our 1st annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Frisco Square. We proudly named the event, Hoops in the Square. (Click link for more info and pictures from the event.) The event took place from 8 a.m. until 5p.m. and included divisional play for seeding followed by play-offs to determine champions in each age group.

In all, twelve different age groups and skill levels were represented that day and the entire event had a "festival atmosphere" with games, food, refreshments, and plenty of children's activities.

Individual competitions also took place, such as Slam-Dunk and 3-Point Shooting contests with former Dallas Maverick, Derek Harper, joining the fun as our celebrity Slam-Dunk Judge. More details.

Sponsors, Participants, and Spectators all enjoyed the fun and the spirit of competition. However, all were there for one primary mission - to help Frisco Sunrise Rotary raise money for Frisco area children and families by benefiting three great organizations; Frisco Family Services Center, Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Collin County, and Boys & Girls Club of Frisco.

We hope you will consider playing with us next year and please use this e-mail to send us your comments and your e-mail address so we can add you to the list for next year!

Beneficiaries of the tournament: Frisco Family Services Center Big Brothers Big Sisters Boys & Girls Club
